Kejriwal urges EC to file FIR against BJP leader for transferring votes

Kejriwal urges EC to file FIR against BJP leader for transferring votes

New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and New Delhi candidate Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday urged the Election Commission to immediately register a criminal FIR and take strict action against BJP MPs from the New Delhi Assembly, accusing them of “attempting to tamper with electoral rolls” by transferring votes from across India to their residences on a large scale.
In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, Kejriwal accused several BJP Union Ministers and Members of the Union Cabinet of being involved in this “malpractice”.
Terming it as “blatant attempts to subvert the democratic process,” the former Delhi Chief Minister urged the Election Commission to immediately halt these suspicious voter transfers.
He also requested the EC to investigate the involvement of BJP MPs and Ministers whose residences are allegedly being misused for this malpractice.
He called for a criminal FIR to be registered against those responsible and demanded strict action, including the disqualification of candidates like Parvesh Verma, who he claimed are facilitating such electoral fraud.
“It is inconceivable how such a high number of voters could have
suddenly applied to be transferred to these properties without planning
by the highest levels of BJP leadership,” he alleged.
“This pattern points to a
deliberate attempt to alter the electoral rolls in favor of BJP candidates,” he added.
“What is happening in Delhi today is a stark reminder of the days when India witnessed rampant booth capturing at gunpoint,” Kejriwal said.
“Had BJP’s attempt to fraudulently delete 5,500 genuine votes (5.5% of total voters) and add 13,000 fake votes (13% of existing total voters) succeeded, the New Delhi constituency would have been permanently altered by a staggering 18%,” he added.
“This is nothing less than a serious and shocking attempt at large-scale booth capturing, akin to what India has seen in the past,” he said.
“33 new votes have been submitted for transfer to BJP candidate Parvesh Verma’s official residence,” Kejriwal claimed.
He questioned, “Are we expected to believe that overnight, 33 people from across India have shifted their residence to that of Mr. Verma? Is this being done at the behest of the BJP candidate? If so, then he must be disqualified from contesting elections for indulging in corrupt practices.”
Listing the names and addresses of BJP MPs in his complaint, Kejriwal alleged, “BJP has sought a large-scale transfer of votes from all over the country to the below addresses.”
