Kelachandra to showcase Indian coffee at SCAJ 2025

Bengaluru, Sept 9 (UNI) Kelachandra Coffee, India's largest privately held coffee plantation company, will showcase its premium, sustainably grown Indian Specialty Coffee at the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ) Conference & Exhibition 2025, Asia’s largest specialty coffee platform, scheduled from September 24–27 at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan.
The company will present hand-harvested, shade-grown varieties including Chandragiri, S.795, HDTxCatuai, Paredenia, and CxR, sourced from Karnataka estates certified by the Rainforest Alliance and compliant with the European union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
"With Indian specialty coffee gaining global recognition, SCAJ 2025 is the perfect platform to introduce our traceable, high-quality beans to Japan," said Neleema Rana George, Head of Coffee Works and Technology at Kelachandra Coffee. "Our estates combine traditional cultivation with technologies from Colombia and Brazil to bring out the finest flavors defining Indian coffee."
Kelachandra Coffee integrates sustainable practices including agroforestry, intercropping, water and energy conservation, and ecosystem restoration, while employing a workforce where 55% are women.
"Japanese coffee enthusiasts value not just taste, but the story behind each bean. For seven generations, we have blended agrarian tradition with innovation, uplifting local communities and preserving India’s coffee heritage," said Ryana Kuruvilla, Head of People and Culture.
Rishina Kuruvilla, Head of CSR and Sustainability, added, "Sustainability is embedded from seed to cup. SCAJ 2025 allows us to reinforce India’s position as a producer of ethically sourced, premium specialty coffee."
SCAJ 2025 will feature exhibitors from 30 countries and welcome visitors from nearly 70 nations. Under the theme "Belong Together in Coffee!", the event offers Indian producers a key opportunity to strengthen trade ties with Japan. Kelachandra Coffee will be at Booth 1203 for tastings and collaborations.
Kelachandra Coffee, a division of the historic Kelachandra Group (est. 1786), cultivates over 6,500 acres across 14 estates in Karnataka and Kerala, producing more than 2,000 MT of premium coffee annually, including 30 MT of specialty micro-lots, with exports to Japan, Denmark, Norway, and Australia.
