Kendrick Lamar scores nine Grammy nominations; Lady Gaga and Bad Bunny join the race

Los Angeles, Nov 9 (UNI) The 2026 Grammy nominations were recently announced, with Kendrick Lamar topping the list. The rapper, who won five awards at the 2025 Grammys, leads this year’s pack with nine nominations, including Album of the Year for GNX, Best Rap Album, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year, according to Variety.
Lamar faces stiff competition in the Album of the Year category from artists such as Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Leon Thomas, Tyler, the Creator, Clipse, and Pusha T and Malice.
Lady Gaga also made a strong showing, securing seven nominations, while Bad Bunny earned six nods, a welcome development for Latin music enthusiasts, as per Variety.
In past years, Latin artists were often overlooked in the Grammys’ top categories, but the recent inclusion of voters with dual rights for both the Grammys and Latin Grammys appears to have changed that.
The superstar is nominated in all three of the top categories: Album, Record, and Song of the Year.
The 2026 Grammy Awards winners will be announced on February 1.
