Kimberly Hebert Gregory, star of HBO’s ‘Vice Principals,’ dies at 52

Los Angeles, Oct 6 (UNI) Actor Kimberly Hebert Gregory, best known for her standout role in the HBO comedy series Vice Principals, has died at the age of 52.
Her passing was confirmed by her ex-husband, actor Chester Gregory, in an emotional tribute shared on Instagram.
"Kimberly Hebert Gregory. You Were Brilliance Embodied, A Black Woman Whose Mind Lit Every Room, Whose Presence Carried Both Fire And Grace. You Taught Us Lessons In Courage, In Artistry, In Resilience, And In How To Keep Showing Up, Even When Life Demanded More Than Its Share. Through Our Best, Through Our Greatest Challenges, What Remained Was Love, Respect, And A Bond No Storm Could Break," his post read.
He also spoke of their son, saying his presence continues to reflect Kimberly’s brilliance and legacy.
Chester Gregory, the ex-husband of Kimberly Hebert Gregory, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, calling her "more than an ex-wife" and reflecting on the deep bond they shared.
He spoke lovingly about their son, describing him as a reflection of Kimberly’s spirit—carrying forward her light, laughter, and legacy. He closed his message with an emotional farewell, honoring her memory and the love that remained between them.
Gregory passed away on October 3, 2025, according to the tribute. Following the announcement, fans and peers flooded social media with tributes, honoring her talent and mourning her loss.
Actor Walton Goggins, Kimberly’s co-star on Vice Principals, also honored her memory in a moving tribute on Instagram.
He wrote, "We lost one of the best yesterday... one of the best I've ever worked with. Kimberly Hebert Gregory. I had the honor... the good fortune of getting to know, getting to spend months working with this Queen on Vice Principals. She made me laugh like no other. A professional professional. A goddamn SOPRANO that never missed a note. You will be missed my friend. As much as you know."
She leaves behind a legacy of powerful performances and a profound impact on both her colleagues and audiences.
