KPCC President terms PM's visit to Kerala as 'disappointing'

Kannur, Jan 24 (UNI) Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph today called Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kerala, on last day, as a 'complete disappointment' to the State.
Addressing a press conference at DCC office here, he accused Narendra Modi of attempting to insult the Congress with baseless allegations, noting that the party is a secular movement and that national leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the country.
Joseph said Modi's remarks reflect fear that the UDF's victory in local body elections will be repeated in the upcoming Assembly elections too. He strongly protested the Prime Minister's statements, alleging that communalism is the BJP's political base and citing Modi's role during the Gujarat and Manipur riots. He also criticized the BJP's "double standards" on religious harmony, referring to incidents involving Christian priests in North India.
