Landslide threat to Kangra Airport, MLA Pathania inspects site

Shahpur, (Kangra) Sep 5 (UNI) Continuous heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh have posed a threat to Kangra Airport, with a landslide near the Airport on the Mandi–Pathankot National Highway damaging several pillars of its security wall.
Shahpur MLA and Deputy Chief Whip, Kewal Singh Pathania, visited the spot today to assess the situation. He directed the district administration and the Airport Authority to take immediate remedial measures.
Pathania warned that if preventive action is not taken in time, the airport could suffer major damage. He said the matter was also raised during last month’s Airport Advisory Committee meeting, but no action has been taken so far.

Haryana Police launch special drive against illegal infiltrators; 13 Bangladeshi Nationals identified in Gurugram

Panchkula, Jun 16(UNI) The Haryana Police have intensified its efforts to identify and verify illegal infiltrators residing in the state, with Gurugram Police launching a special verification drive in view of national security and law and order concerns. During the operation, 13 Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in Gurugram were identified and will be deported following due legal procedures.

UP Assembly elections may be held early due to census

Lucknow, Jun 16 (UNI) Assembly elections in Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, currently scheduled for February 2027, may be advanced by at least a month to avoid overlapping with the Census exercise. Senior party leaders said the move is being considered because the same pool of government employees is deployed for both elections and census operations, raising concerns over a shortage of personnel.
