Lebanon–Israel agree to extend ceasefire by 45 days: US State Dept

Washington, May 16 (UNI) The US says Lebanon and Israel have agreed to extend their current ceasefire for another 45 days following two days of talks hosted by Washington, even as the IDF and Hezbollah continue to engage in cross-border clashes on an almost daily basis.
According to State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, the extension is meant to create space for further negotiations on both political and military issues between the two countries.
"On May 14 and 15, the United States hosted two days of highly productive talks between Israel and Lebanon," Pigott said in a statement posted on X.
