Maha govt seeks report on improving mobile, internet connectivity in Konkan districts

Mumbai, June 10 (UNI): Maharashtra Minister for Electronics, IT and Artificial Intelligence Adv. Ashish Shelar on Wednesday directed District Collectors of Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg to submit detailed reports within seven days on steps to improve mobile and internet connectivity in the two coastal districts.
Chairing a review meeting on 5G rollout in remote Sahyadri villages, Shelar said erecting towers alone was not enough and ordered physical verification of signal strength and coverage on the ground. He warned that complaints of "no signal despite towers" would be taken seriously.
The Minister asked officials to install new towers in dead zones, conduct saturation and signal-intensity analysis of existing infrastructure, and immediately fix maintenance issues like power cuts and weak battery backup.
