Maha govt to hold Chief Secretary-level meet on Dashavatar artists’ demands: Shelar

Mumbai ,June 10 (UNI) Maharashtra government will hold a Chief Secretary-level inter-departmental meeting to address demands of Dashavatar folk theatre groups, Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar said on Wednesday.
Chairing a meeting on preservation of Konkan’s Dashavatar art at PL Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy, Shelar said the government already provides financial aid to eligible troupes and a ₹5,000 monthly honorarium to senior artists under the Senior Artists Honorarium Scheme.
He announced that the number of Dashavatar festivals in Konkan will be increased and special festivals will be organised in Mumbai and Thane. Officials were directed to coordinate with local institutions for more effective training workshops on the art form.
