Maha: Vi Gets Rs 2,113-Cr Relief After Bombay HC Quashes DoT Spectrum Charge Demand

Mumbai, June 9 (UNI) Telecom sevices provider Vodafone Idea (Vi) informed the stock exchange in a regulatory filing here today that the Bombay High Court has quashed the one-time spectrum charge (OTSC) demand raised by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) against the company and its erstwhile subsidiary Spice Communications, which has provided the company a relief of Rs 2,113 crores.
According to the Vi statement, the Bombay High Court has ordered the return of bank guarantees furnished to the DoT after it had levied one-time spectrum charges for radio spectrum holdings beyond 6.2 MHz.
Vi stated in its filing, that the Bombay High Court quashed the original demand notices issued to Idea Cellular and Spice Communications on June 8, aggregating to Rs 2,113 crore and directed the return of the bank guarantees submitted by these companies to the DoT.
