Mahadeva Mahotsav in Barabanki emerges as vibrant hub of rural tourism in UP

Barabanki, Nov 18 (UNI) The seven-day Mahadeva Mahotsav has begun at the ancient Lodheswar Mahadev temple in Barabanki, drawing lakhs of devotees and rapidly evolving into one of Uttar Pradesh’s strongest examples of rural tourism.
This year, more than 10 lakh visitors are expected. The rising footfall, which includes travellers from Barabanki, Bahraich, Gonda, Lucknow, western Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, reflects the Mahotsav’s growing cultural and economic impact.
Lodheswar Mahadev is believed to house one of the rarest Shivlings, associated with Mahabharata. Devotees believe the Shivling was revealed to farmer Loderam Awasthi after divine instruction, making the site a revered pilgrimage centre for centuries. Traditions also suggest the Pandavas performed a yagya here, adding to its historical relevance and spiritual appeal.

Victim's parents move SC against acquittal or computation of death sentence

Shimla, Dec 12 (UNI) The family of four-year-old murder victim Yug Gupta has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Himachal Pradesh High Court’s September 23 judgment that commuted the death sentences of two convicts and acquitted the third.
Family sources told UNI that Yug’s father, Vinod Gupta, has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the apex court, which has been accepted for hearing.
