Maharashtra Govt to table landmark Women Farmers Empowerment Bill

Mumbai, Jun 12 (UNI) The Government of Maharashtra is set to introduce the Maharashtra Women Farmers Empowerment Bill, 2026 during the upcoming Monsoon Session, aiming to grant legal, independent identity to millions of women in the agricultural sector.
The announcement, made by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday, marks a significant legislative pivot to address systemic gender inequities that have long excluded women from state-sponsored agricultural benefits.
Despite women accounting for over 81% of participation in Maharashtra’s agricultural economy, the Chief Minister noted that existing government schemes remain predominantly "male-centric."
