Maharashtra: IIT student arrested for alleged sexual assault on minor

Mumbai , June 13 ( UNI) A 23-year-old third-year student of IIT Kharagpur, Adwait Khochare, has been arrested by Maharashtra police in neghbouring Thane city for allegedly raping a 13-year-old differently-abled girl, officials confirmed on Friday.
The arrest followed a complaint filed by the girl’s mother, who works as a ragpicker.
According to police, the accused lured the girl with promises of new clothes before sexually assaulting her. The distressing incident came to light when the victim confided in her mother, prompting the latter to approach the authorities late Wednesday.
