Maharashtra: Prithviraj Chavan alleges ‘Operation Tiger’ aimed at crippling opposition

Mumbai, Jun 17 (UNI) The political landscape in Maharashtra has been thrown into turmoil following reports of an impending split within the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction. Amidst the rising tensions, former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan has launched a stinging critique of the BJP and the central government, characterizing the recent developments as part of a calculated national strategy to dismantle opposition forces.
Addressing the media regarding the alleged defection of six Shiv Sena (UBT) Members of Parliament, Chavan dismissed the labels of "Operation Lotus" or "Operation Tiger" as mere symptoms of a larger, systemic malaise.
He confirmed that the reported submission of a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker by a segment of Thackeray’s MPs signals a formal rupture within the party structure.
