Malaysian authorities seize drugs worth 2.88 mln USD

Kuala Lumpur, Feb. 10 (UNI) Malaysian authorities announced on Monday the crippling of two drug trafficking syndicates in separate operations around Selangor state and the capital, Kuala Lumpur, with the seizure of drugs valued at 12.88 million ringgit (2.88 million U.S. dollars).
Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Khaw Kok Chin told a press briefing that on Feb. 4, the police successfully crippled a syndicate involved in the processing of MDMA powder, following several raids carried out in the Klang Valley.
"Based on intelligence and surveillance findings, the police managed to apprehend the leader of the syndicate... before the suspect led the police to a luxury condominium in Cheras (a district of Kuala Lumpur), which served as a storage site for various types of drugs," he said.
