Malviya Nagar fire: Delhi govt orders inspection of all hotels, motels; Any safety violation to entail sealing: Minister

New Delhi, Jun 3 (UNI) Delhi Minister Ashish Sood, who visited the site of the devastating Malviya Nagar fire that left 21 people, including many foreigners, dead, on Wednesday said the government has ordered inspections of all hotels, motels and similar establishments not only in Hauz Rani but across the city, and even minor safety violations will entail sealing of the building.
Sood, who is Minister for Home and Urban Development, said that under the supervision of the District Magistrate (DM), agencies and concerned departments have been directed to inspect such establishments across the area, and in case any building is found to be violating norms of safety even to a small extent shall be sealed, upon shortcomings being verified and confirmed.
In case if any deficiency is found in compliance with prescribed norms, electricity supply will be disconnected immediately and the establishment will be shut down, sources said.
