Mamata Banerjee congratulates ‘UDF government’ in Kerala, posts wishes for CM V D Satheesan

New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) Trinamool Congress chief and former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday congratulated the United Democratic Front for “taking oath in Kerala today” and wishing the “new government” success.
“Congratulations to the UDF government led by Chief Minister @vdsatheesan on taking oath in Kerala today. Wishing the new government great success in their service to the people of Kerala,” Banerjee said in a message posted on her WhatsApp channel.
Satheesan was today sworn in as Kerala’s 13th Chief Minister, marking the return of a Congress-led UDF government after 10 years. The grand ceremony at Thiruvananthapuram’s Central Stadium saw top national leaders and state ministers attend the high-profile event.
Banerjee’s congratulatory message assumes added significance in the backdrop of her recent overtures to political parties opposed to the Bharatiya Janata Party following her party’s defeat at the hands of the BJP in the recently contested West Bengal Assembly polls.
Last fortnight, Banerjee had declared that “enemy’s enemy is my friend; our first enemy is the BJP.” The overture apparently signaled a tactical reconciliatory proposal to all opposition parties, including the Congress, under the INDIA bloc to regroup against the BJP. UNI SKA AB
