Manipur Police recover arms, nab 2 suspects

Imphal, Oct 14 (UNI) Security forces continued extensive search operations and area domination exercises in the fringe and vulnerable areas across various districts of Manipur, leading to the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition, and warlike stores, besides the arrest of two individuals in separate incidents yesterday.
During a search operation conducted at Phubala Mamang Pat, Bishnupur district, the troops recovered the following items: one INSAS Light Machine Gun (LMG) with magazine, one SBBL gun, one Chinese hand grenade, five 5.56 mm INSAS live rounds, five ballistic cartridges, six 12-bore cartridges, three .303 round chargers, one tube launching cylinder, one Baofeng handheld set, three bulletproof helmets, four bulletproof plates, and one rubber tube.
In a separate operation carried out in the Nepali Basti area, Churachandpur district, security forces recovered two single-barrel rifles, one countrymade mortar, two countrymade grenades, three countrymade shells, eight mortar bombs, 15 empty AK-47 cases, 25 live 7.62 mm rounds, and two wood-piercing shells.

Odisha raises DA for State employees to 60 percent

Bhubaneswar, May 15 (UNI) The Odisha government on Friday enhanced the dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees by two percentage points, raising it from 58 per cent to 60 per cent.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.
The revised DA will be effective retrospectively from January 1, 2026.

Odisha to begin door-to-door voter verification from May 30

Bhubaneswar, May 15 (UNI) Odisha will launch a door-to-door voter verification drive from May 30 as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls scheduled by the Election Commission of India, state Chief Electoral Officer R S Gopalan said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference here, Gopalan said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would visit households across the state between May 30 and June 28 for distribution and collection of enumeration forms.
The revision exercise will be conducted with July 1, 2026 as the qualifying date.

No act of hostility can intimidate Nagas: NSF

Dimapur, May 15 (UNI) Disturbed over the recent killings and abduction of some Naga civilians in some districts of Manipur, the Naga Students' Federation (NSF) Friday said, “No act of hostility can intimidate the Nagas.”
Condemning what it called “outrageous” and “inhuman ambush” on the church leaders of the Thadou Baptist Association between Kotzin and Kotler in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on May 13, it said three church leaders were killed and five others grievously injured in the ambush while they were returning from Churachandpur.
