Manipur security crackdown: 3 insurgents arrested

Imphal, July 11 (UNI) In a series of coordinated counter-insurgency operations, Manipur Police and central security forces have apprehended three active members of banned militant outfits across Imphal West, Kakching, and Bishnupur districts.
The operations resulted in the seizure of arms, ammunition, and various incriminating documents yesterday.
According to the police, security forces arrested a self-styled member of a proscribed insurgent group from the Mayang Imphal Thana Mamang Leikai area in Imphal West district today. The individual, hailing from Kakching district, was actively involved in extortion, issuing monetary demands, kidnapping, and recruiting new members for the underground outfit across Thoubal, Kakching, and Imphal West districts.
Security forces recovered a pistol with live ammunition, mobile phones, SIM cards, and identity documents from the suspect during the operation.
Two more insurgents linked to separate banned organizations were apprehended in Kakching and Bishnupur districts. One was arrested from Umathel Bazar in Kakching district, while another was picked up from Phougakchao-Ikhai Awang Leikai in Bishnupur district. In both cases, the arrested individuals were found to be active cadres of their respective militant outfits. Authorities also recovered communication devices during the arrests.
Security officials stated that the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation. The arrests are expected to yield critical intelligence on insurgent activities and networks.
