Maoists torch mobile tower in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum

Chaibasa, Oct 12 (UNI) In an act of Maoist violence, insurgents targeted a private mobile tower in Kolbonga village under the Manoharpur block of Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, causing extensive damage worth several lakhs of rupees.
According to police sources, around a dozen armed Maoists entered the village under the cover of darkness and set fire to the generator, battery set, and electrical cables installed near the tower. Within minutes, the blaze intensified and completely gutted the communication equipment.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Maoists first cordoned off the entire area around the tower to prevent villagers from intervening. They then deliberately torched the DG set, battery bank, and other key communication devices. During the incident, the extremists shouted slogans and issued threats, warning locals against cooperating with security forces.
