Maratha quota demand can be resolved through discussions, assures Minister Pratap Sarnayak

Latur, Aug 15 (UNI) Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnayak has expressed confidence that the demands of the Maratha quota agitators could be resolved through discussions before the planned protests begin. His remarks came after holding talks with Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil.
The Maratha community is demanding reservation under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category and the implementation of the ordinance on inclusion of close relatives. To press for these demands, a Maratha morcha is scheduled to march to Mumbai, starting from Antarwali Sarati on August 27, followed by an indefinite hunger strike from August 29.
Jarange Patil has asserted that there will be no retreat this time — the community will secure reservation, and that too under the OBC category. He has urged large-scale participation from the Maratha community, claiming this morcha will be five times bigger than the previous one.
