Married woman found dead under suspicious circumstances in Giridih

Giridih, Jan 13 (UNI) A married woman died under suspicious circumstances on Tuesday in Paniyaya village in Giridih. The deceased has been identified as Surajmuni. While her parental family has accused her husband and in-laws of murder, the in-laws have claimed that she died by suicide after consuming poison. Acting on the complaint, police have taken the husband, Ashok Murmu, into custody and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to the deceased’s father, Arun Marandi, his daughter was murdered by her husband and in-laws. He alleged that deep marks were found on Surajmuni’s neck, indicating foul play. He stated that Surajmuni was married to Ashok Murmu about six months ago and had been facing marital discord. Following a dispute with her husband, she had come to her parental home to celebrate the Sohrai festival. When her husband arrived to take her back, an argument reportedly took place between the couple at her parental home as well. After counseling both of them, the father sent his daughter back to her matrimonial home with her husband on Monday. However, the family received news of her death the following morning.
On the other hand, the in-laws claimed that Surajmuni died by suicide after consuming poison. They stated that her body was found lying inside the house in the morning, following which an alarm was raised and local residents gathered. She was taken to the Tisri Health Centre, where doctors declared her dead. Meanwhile, Lokai OP police reached the spot, took the body into custody, and sent it to Giridih Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police said further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and the findings of the investigation.
