Mary McDonnell joins Marvel's 'Vision' series and apocalyptic feature 'One Second After'

Los Angeles, Sept 15 (UNI) Academy Award-nominated actress Mary McDonnell has lined up two high-profile projects, stepping into the Marvel universe with the 'Vision' series and the feature adaptation of William R. Forstchen's 2009 dystopian novel 'One Second After'.
In "One Second After", McDonnell plays Jen, the perceptive and steadfast mother-in-law to John (Josh Holloway), who becomes the guardian of his daughters when an electromagnetic pulse devastates civilisation, plunging society into chaos.
The film is directed by Scott Rogers, renowned for his kinetic work as a stunt coordinator and second-unit director on 'Tron: Ares' and 'John Wick: Chapter 4'. Filming begins this month in Sofia, Bulgaria, with a script penned by J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, Sense8).
McDonnell’s role has not been disclosed for Disney ’s Vision show that wrapped principal photography over the summer. Series creator Terry Matalas’ follow-up to WandaVision includes Paul Bettany as android Vision and James Spader as Ultron. A premiere date has not yet been announced, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
McDonnell earned Academy Award nominations for her roles in 'Dances With Wolves'and 'Passion Fish'. She is also known for such films as 'Scream 4', 'Donnie Darko', 'Independence Day' and 'Sneakers', in addition to her work on an array of series including 'The Fall of the House of Usher', 'Major Crimes', 'Battlestar Galactica' and 'Grey’s Anatomy'.
She received Emmy Award nominations for 'The Closer' and 'ER'.
The actress is represented by Innovative Artists, Anonymous Content and Wallman Public Relations.
