Massive fire erupts in HP

Baddi (HP), Apr 24 (UNI) A massive fire broke out on Thursday at a scrap godown located on Chakka Road in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh after a local resident reportedly set ablaze a heap of farm residue in a nearby field.
Strong winds quickly fanned the flames, spreading the fire from the field to the godown, which was in the process of being vacated.
The blaze intensified rapidly due to the presence of highly inflammable materials lying outside the godown, including chemical-laced drums, corrugated boxes, plastics, and metals like copper and aluminium. Within minutes, the fire engulfed the area, sending thick black plumes of smoke billowing into the sky and severely deteriorating the already poor air quality in the region.
