Mayawati condemns assault on Dalit Girl in UP, demands swift action from Govt

Lucknow, Oct 12 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the alleged assault of a 16-year-old Dalit schoolgirl in Lucknow’s Banthra area.
In a strongly worded post on social media platform X today, Mayawati called the incident "deeply painful and shameful" and demanded immediate and effective action from the state government.
The BSP chief wrote, “The incident of a teenage girl being assaulted in Banthra area of Lucknow is extremely sad and shameful. Incidents of atrocities against women, including violence and murder, are not slowing down in Uttar Pradesh and across the country. The government must take urgent and effective steps to stop such crimes. Forget about dignity, women’s safety is the first and foremost need.”
