MBA graduate arrested in Rs 50 Crore fraud via fake call center in Kanpur

Kanpur, Aug 15 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, Kanpur Police have busted a multi-crore cyber fraud racket operated through a fake call center allegedly run by an MBA graduate. The accused, Pulkit Dwivedi, reportedly duped businessmen from India and several foreign countries of over Rs 50 crore by luring them with fake promises of international trade deals and registrations.
Disclosing of the success on Friday, DCP Crime, SM Qasim Abidi said that the call center was operating under the names 'Webixy Technologies Private Limited' and 'Global Trade Plaza' from a commercial building opposite Green Park Stadium in the Civil Lines area. Over 150 employees worked at the facility, each trained to carry out sophisticated fraud operations, targeting business owners with promises of large international orders and branding opportunities.
Abidi stated that the scam came to light after an employee of the firm, Jitendra Kumar, tipped off the police. Following the tip off, the Crime Branch raided the premises and arrested Pulkit Dwivedi on Thursday evening. The company’s operations have been sealed, and authorities are now searching for his partner, Satyakam Sahu, along with other accomplices.
