Meghalaya CM urges to strengthen security during harvesting along inter-state boundary

Shillong, Oct 14 (UNI) The Joint Action Committee Border Issue (JACBI) in Meghalaya today urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to strengthen security at Lapangap village along the Meghalaya-Assam boundary to ensure safety of the residents during paddy harvesting.
In a memorandum to the Chief Minister, JACBI said that the prevailing situation at the inter-state boundary, particularly at Lapangap Village was ‘alarming’, in view of “recent incidents and growing tension”.
On October 9, a tribal Karbi villager from Tahpat village under Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, was killed in a scuffle between the villagers residing along the Assam-Meghalaya border.
