Microsoft warns of service disruptions for Azure users

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) Microsoft has cautioned Azure users of possible disruptions as increased latency was observed, particularly for internet traffic moving through Asia and Europe.
The company confirmed that the issue is linked to cuts in critical undersea fiber cables in the Red Sea.
The Red Sea, one of the world’s most vital internet arteries, carries a significant share of global data traffic. Any damage to subsea cables in this region can lead to widespread slowdowns across multiple services.
In a status update, Microsoft said, “Undersea fiber cuts can take time to repair; as such, we will continuously monitor, rebalance, and optimize routing to reduce customer impact in the meantime. We'll continue to provide daily updates, or sooner if the conditions change.”
Microsoft said that it is working with network providers to reroute traffic where possible and ensure continuity of service. The company has also assured customers that efforts are underway to minimize impact until repair operations are completed.
'Internet traffic rerouting' is the process of redirecting data packets to different paths in a network. This process is used to bypass congestion, avoid failed equipment, balance loads or for security purposes.
Azure users in Europe, Asia, and nearby regions may continue to face intermittent slowdowns until the network is fully stabilized.
Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform that offers a wide range of services, including computing, storage, networking, AI and analytics.
