Minister defends Act, says rural jobs scheme strengthened with accountability

Hyderabad, Jan 12 (UNI) union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Monday said the Centre’s Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) -- VB-G RAM G Act, 2025 -- has been designed to strengthen rural employment with greater accountability, transparency and timely wage payments.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office here, Kishan Reddy extended Sankranthi greetings and accused opposition parties of spreading misinformation about the scheme. He said the law guarantees work to every rural labourer who demands it, with provisions for unemployment allowance if work is not provided within 15 days and compensation for delayed wage payments.
The Minister said technology-driven monitoring, geo-tagging of works, direct benefit transfer (DBT) of wages and strengthened social audits would eliminate corruption and middlemen. Administrative funds have been increased to 9 per cent to ensure effective supervision and staffing, he added.
