Mizoram begins coal exploration in Lunglei

Aizawl, Oct 3 (UNI) For the first time in Mizoram, a private agency has started coal exploration activities in Rotlang West of Lunglei District) this year, it was disclosed today.
This was reported by geologist C. Malsawmkima during the Geological Society of Mizoram (GSM) General Body Meeting, held at the Pachhunga University College during the day.
Three coal-bearing sites were discovered in the region, with coal streak widths measuring 7 cm, 12 cm, and 8 cm, respectively. Several additional areas with coal deposits were also identified. The quality of the coal samples is still awaited, Malsawmkima said.
