Mizoram inks 3-year MoU with BRLF to boost rural livelihoods

Aizawl, May 13 (UNI) In a bid to improve the living conditions of poor families in its rural areas, the Mizoram government on Tuesday signed a three-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bharat Rural Livelihood Foundation (BRLF).
The agreement, signed between the state’s Rural Development & Administration Department and BRLF, aims to implement government schemes and programmes more effectively, ensuring they bring tangible benefits to rural communities. The partnership will focus on critical areas such as protection of water sources, environmental conservation, wildlife protection, and enhancing agricultural productivity for farmers in remote villages.
Under the MoU, a comprehensive plan will be drawn up to integrate and converge various development schemes being implemented by different state departments. Key components of the plan include preventing water wastage, addressing topsoil erosion, and managing groundwater resources to facilitate sustainable rural development. In addition, the initiative will promote non-pesticide management practices to foster healthier and more sustainable farming methods among rural cultivators.
