Mizoram launches community-based surveillance system to detect communicable diseases

Aizawl, Oct 12(UNI) The Mizoram Health and Family Welfare Department on Thursday launched the Community-Based Surveillance System (CBS) to enable people across the state to report new communicable diseases, including infectious ones like Mpox.
According to a press statement from the department, the CBS was launched by Health Secretary Sangchhin Chinzah. The event also featured training sessions on topics such as the “Mpox scenario in Global, India and Mizoram” and an “Introduction to the One Health concept.”
CBS is an initiative introduced by the central government, designed to be user-friendly and accessible to all, including those in remote areas, without incurring any cost to the users. Officials highlighted that the system would facilitate the early detection of unknown diseases spreading in villages or clusters of villages, enabling healthcare professionals to provide prompt treatment.

Bird Watch Survey: 89 species recorded at Nongsaya Lake in Arunachal’s Namsai

Guwahati, July 9 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today asserted that the eviction drive which is being undertaken by his government will continue till all illegal encroachments are cleared so that the areas can be used for public welfare projects. Defending the eviction drive despite opposition criticism, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that some resistance was to be expected during an operation of such scale. Violence broke out during a massive eviction drive in Dhubri district yesterday.
