Mizoram tightens Border security amid Bangladesh unrest

Aizawl, Aug 9 (UNI) Restrictions along the Mizoram-Bangladesh border remained in place even as the state police reported zero influx of refugees or attempts to cross into Mizoram from the neighbouring country.
Despite the calm, district magistrates of Lawngtlai, Lunglei, and Mamit districts, which share the 318-km international border, continue to enforce stringent security measures.
An order from Jacob Lalawmpuia, district magistrate of Mamit, cited unrest in Bangladesh as the reason for the restrictions, warning of a potential influx of illegal immigrants that could threaten law and order and national security.
