Mizoram to introduce prepaid meters, rooftop solar systems

Aizawl, Dec 11 (UNI) The Mizoram government is set to implement prepaid electricity meters across the state, with top-ups starting as low as Rs 100, Power and Electricity Minister F. Rodingliana announced at a press conference in Aizawl here on Wednesday.
The long-anticipated prepaid metering system will soon become operational, allowing consumers to pay only for the electricity they consume. "This system will ensure transparency and prevent excessive billing. Users can recharge their meters as per their needs, with any unused balance carried over to the next month," Rodingliana said.
Addressing concerns about increased costs, he assured that the system has been designed to be consumer-friendly, with minimum recharge rates starting at Rs 100. "There will be varying rates based on usage, but the system ensures fairness," he added.
