Mizoram tops in HIV prevalence: Minister calls for war-footing response

9Aizawl, June 18 (UNI) Mizoram continues to record the highest HIV prevalence rate in India at 2.73%, prompting state health minister Lalrinpuii to call for urgent, coordinated efforts to tackle the crisis on a war-footing.
Speaking at the governing body meeting of the Mizoram State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) in Aizawl on Wednesday, Lalrinpuii, who also chairs the society, said the situation leaves no room for complacency and requires intensified intervention across sectors.
MSACS Project Director Dr Jane Rinzuali Ralte informed the meeting that 2,069 new cases of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) were registered at the state’s 14 Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) centres during 2024–2025. Of those receiving treatment, 97.7% have achieved viral suppression, meaning they can no longer transmit the virus to others, she said.

Odisha: Burn victim airlifted from Bhubaneswar to AIIMS-Delhi for advanced medical treatment

Bhubanwshwar, July 20 (UNI) The 15-year-old girl from Odisha’s Puri district, who sustained around 75% burn injuries after being set ablaze by unidentified miscreants on Saturday, was airlifted to AIIMS, New Delhi from Bhubaneswar on Sunday to provide advanced medical treatment to the victim still battling for life.
