Mohali officer awarded Kirti Chakra for gallantry in Manipur operation

Chandigarh, June 10 (Neeraj Bali) Indian Army officer Major Arshdeep Singh Gill, a resident of Mohali, has been conferred the 'Kirti Chakra', the country's second-highest peacetime gallantry award, in recognition of his exceptional courage, leadership and devotion to duty during a high-risk counter-insurgency operation in Manipur.
President Droupadi Murmu presented the prestigious award during the Defence Investiture Ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
Major Gill, who hails from Sector 79 in Mohali and serves with the Armoured Corps while being attached to 1 Assam Rifles, was honoured for displaying extraordinary bravery during a challenging military mission in the northeastern state. According to military sources, he led his team through a prolonged and complex operation against armed militants, demonstrating remarkable determination and operational leadership under demanding conditions.

Panchkula, July 21 (UNI) More than Rs 16,600 crore is lying in inoperative Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) accounts and in unclaimed policyholder funds and accrued income with the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), prompting efforts to identify beneficiaries and facilitate settlement of money due to employees, former workers, policyholders and their eligible claimants.
