Monsoon withdrawal delayed; Maharashtra records 26 percent excess rainfall

Pune, Oct 3 ( UNI) Despite the onset of October, the southwest monsoon has not yet begun its withdrawal from Maharashtra, with the state logging 26 percent above-average rainfall this season.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that Maharashtra is likely to witness above-average rainfall in October, particularly in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada.
So far, the state has recorded 120 percent of its normal rainfall, with 1,189.4 mm from June to September. This marks the second consecutive year that Maharashtra has received excess rainfall.
