Mumbai water demand exceeds supply, Shinde warns in Assembly

Nagpur, Dec 10 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde informed the state assembly on Wednesday that Mumbai’s current water supply is falling short of its daily requirement, as the city’s consumption continues to exceed available reservoir levels.
Shinde was responding to a question raised by Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Sunil Prabhu, who expressed concern over inadequate water supply across the metropolis.
In a written reply during the question hour, Shinde said Mumbai’s water demand has been steadily rising due to rapid population growth, large-scale housing development and ongoing infrastructure projects.
