National Lok Adalat settles 5,429 cases in Kangra, awards over Rs 5 Crore

Dharamshala, May 9 (UNI) A total of 5,429 cases were settled during the National Lok Adalat held across all courts in Kangra district on Saturday, with settlement awards exceeding Rs 5 crore.
The National Lok Adalat was organised under the guidance of Executive Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Shimla, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, and District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of District Legal Services Authority Kangra, Justice Chirag Bhanu Singh.
According to the District Legal Services Authority Kangra, Dharamshala, various categories of cases were taken up during the Lok Adalat, including pre-litigation matters, Negotiable Instruments (NI) Act cases, money recovery disputes, labour disputes, electricity and water bill cases, maintenance cases under Section 125, compoundable criminal cases, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal matters, matrimonial disputes, land acquisition matters, revenue cases and other civil disputes.
