NEHU suspends Prof. Saha after CBI arrest in bribery case

Shillong, June 20 (UNI) Prof. Nirmalendu Saha, Dean of the School of Life Sciences of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Meghalaya, has been suspended following his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with a bribery case, an official said on Friday.
Saha was caught red-handed by the CBI for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 3.43 lakh from Pranjal Sharma, the proprietor of a Guwahati-based supply firm.
The duo was arrested during a CBI-led trap operation at the Gauhati University guest house on June 10.

NPCC condemns IED blast in Chumoukedima

Dimapur, July 14 (UNI) The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Tuesday strongly condemned the suspected IED blast near the Assam Rifles Training Centre (ARTC), Shokhuvi, in Chumoukedima district on Monday, which claimed the life of Havildar Mohd Iqbal of the Assam Rifles and left four other security personnel injured.

Arunachal, Norwegian firm ink pact for India's first river kinetic energy project

Itanagar, July 14 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Norwegian company Tidal Sail AS for the implementation of a 500 kW River Kinetic Energy Demonstration Project, paving the way for India's first river kinetic energy demonstration plant in the state.
