India face bowling dilemma ahead of 4th T20I against England

India face bowling dilemma ahead of 4th T20I against England

Pune, Jan 30 (UNI) As India prepare for the crucial fourth T20I against England in Pune on Friday, a major selection debate surrounds the return of Arshdeep Singh.
The left-arm pacer, who was rested in Rajkot, remains a key option, particularly with India's struggles in the Powerplay.
His ability to swing the new ball could be decisive, especially on a pitch that offers early assistance to pacers.
Mohammed Shami’s return in Rajkot was a welcome boost, but his performance, while steady, indicated he still needs more match time to reach his best. If India opt for an extra seamer, Arshdeep’s inclusion seems likely.
The 25-year-old is also on the brink of history, needing just two more wickets to become the first India bowler to reach 100 T20I scalps. Achieving the feat in this match would place him alongside Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga as the joint third-fastest to the milestone (63 matches).
The MCA Stadium in Pune has hosted four T20Is, traditionally offering a spin-friendly surface while still being conducive to stroke play. Pacers, however, tend to extract movement and bounce early on, making the first few overs crucial for both teams. The average first-innings score at the venue stands at 166, suggesting a competitive contest between bat and ball.
Weather conditions are expected to remain clear, with temperatures hovering around 18°C during match hours, ensuring an uninterrupted game.
Beyond the bowling conundrum, India face pressing concerns in the batting department. Sanju Samson, who has struggled with the bat, would like to get going.
With the series poised at 2-1 in India’s favour, the fourth T20I presents a golden opportunity for Suryakumar Yadav's men to wrap up the contest before the decider in Mumbai.
England, led by Jos Buttler, will be eager to force a final showdown, backed by a strong pace attack featuring Archer and Wood.
All eyes will be on team selections and individual performances as India seek to recover from their Rajkot setback and clinch the series in Pune.
