KSU activists take out protest march to Meghalaya Assembly

Shillong, Mar 11 (UNI) Exerting pressure on the Meghalaya government, the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), who had been demanding repeal of Meghalaya State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Act, 2024 (MSIPF) and opposing the government’s plan to introduce railways in Jaintia Hills, took out a lightning march to the Meghalaya Assembly on Tuesday when the Assembly session resumed in the morning.
However, the students activists were stopped mid-way by the police at Harrison Bridge, about 100 metres away from the Meghalaya Assembly, by policemen and magistrates.
Following the protest, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma invited the KSU leaders for discussion their demands, but KSU leaders who emerged from the meeting room said the talks failed to address the discussion failed to.address the concerns
