West Bengal CEO holds urgent meet with ECI on ‘logical discrepancies’ after Supreme Court directive

Kolkata, Jan 19 (UNI) Hours after the Supreme Court on Monday directed the Election Commission to publish the list of “logical discrepancies” in West Bengal's electoral rolls, the state's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manojkumar Agarwal held an urgent meeting with senior officials of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in New Delhi to discuss the issue related to the state’s voter list.
Agarwal, who had travelled to the national capital on Monday morning for a pre-scheduled meeting with the ECI on West Bengal’s “logical discrepancies” in the electoral rolls and was scheduled to return to Kolkata in the evening, was asked to stay back following the Supreme Court verdict as the commission directed him to make the list of such discrepancies public.
According to Commission sources, around 1.36 crore voters in West Bengal were initially identified on the grounds of "logical discrepancies", a figure that was later revised down to 94 lakhs.
