‘Pedal to Plant 2025’ expedition spreads message of fitness & sustainability

Itanagar, Nov 13 (UNI) The Pedal to Plant 2025 expedition, themed “Change before the Climate Change,” which promotes fitness, environmental responsibility and national unity through cycling and plantation activities, has successfully completed its Arunachal Pradesh and Assam leg.
Led by Nisha Kumari, noted para-cyclist, mountaineer, and Everester, and supported by the Fit India Movement, this unique cross-country initiative commenced on October 31, coinciding with National Unity Day, from Pangsau Pass in Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh.
It was flagged off by MLA Laisam Simai, and Brigadier Sarabjeet Singh, Commander, HQ 25 Sector, Assam Rifles.

Odisha: BMC draws up pre-monsoon action plan to contain dengue, vector-borne diseases

Bhubaneswar, May 21 (UNI) The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation on Thursday held a preparedness meeting on prevention and control of vector-borne diseases, particularly dengue, ahead of the monsoon season.
The meeting, chaired by BMC Commissioner Chanchal Rana, focused on completing all preventive measures before the onset of rains and strengthening grassroots-level surveillance and awareness mechanisms to curb the spread of dengue.
During the meeting, emphasis was laid on extensive public awareness campaigns and coordinated action involving all stakeholders.

Orissa HC issues guidelines to tackle illegal immigration, calls for ‘Detention Centres’ in every district

Bhubaneswar, May 21 (UNI) In a significant ruling aimed at streamlining the handling of illegal immigrants and foreign nationals involved in criminal cases, the Orissa High Court has issued a comprehensive set of guidelines to the Odisha Government and subordinate authorities for dealing with such cases in a uniform and legally compliant manner.
The guidelines were issued by the Single Bench of Justice G. Satapathy while hearing a matter relating to foreign nationals staying illegally in the country.
