Investigation death case for 3 years without filing charge sheet baffles Meghalaya HC

Shillong, Mar 21 (UNI) The Meghalaya High Court has expressed surprise over the Meghalaya Police for investigating a death case of a police trainee from Assam for the past three years without filing a charge sheet.
“This court is quite perplexed to hear that after three years the investigation could not be completed; hence, no charge sheet could be filed,” Chief Justice I.P. Mukherji said in his ruling on Friday.
According to preliminary reports, the victim died due to drowning in a swimming pool at the North Eastern Police Academy at Umiam on March 9, 2022.
