Berlin Film Festival unveils competition lineup for 76th edition

Los Angeles, Jan 20 (UNI) The Berlin Film Festival has unveiled the competition lineup for its 76th edition, marking the second year under the leadership of artistic director Tricia Tuttle, reports Variety.
The upcoming edition carries a strong international focus, with Afghan filmmaker Shahrbanoo Sadat’s romantic comedy No Good Men set to open the festival. Celebrated German director Wim Wenders will serve as jury president, succeeding Todd Haynes.
A German co-production, 'No Good Men' is set inside a Kabul newsroom during Afghanistan’s democratic era, before the Taliban returned to power in 2021.
While last year’s Berlinale welcomed major stars such as Timothée Chalamet and Robert Pattinson at the Palast, this year’s star power is expected to come largely from high-profile titles in the Panorama and Special Gala sections.
These include the international debut of Charli xcx’s much-anticipated Brat mockumentary The Moment, the world premiere of Isabelle Huppert’s vampire film The Blood Countess, and the historical drama The Weight, starring Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe.
Tuttle, a widely respected American film journalist and curator who took over from Carlo Chatrian in 2025, has previously stated her ambition to bring the Berlinale closer in spirit and stature to Cannes, according to Variety.
The 76th Berlin Film Festival will take place from February 12 to 22.
