New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) The Congress on Tuesday slammed External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar describing his response as 'weak and inflexible' to China renaming places in Arunachal Pradesh.
Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, senior Congress leader Manish Tewari said, “The EAM’s statement that if I change the name of your house, will that house become mine? Such a weak and inflexible response from the Foreign Minister over China’s cartographic aggression does not suit the Government of India”.
He said, “China has changed names of 30 places in Arunachal Pradesh and those who talk loudly about Katchatheevu Island are scared of even uttering the word China”.
Raising the Galwan issue, the former Union Minister said that it has almost been four years, the Chinese army intruded the Indian borders, but still there was no response from the Modi government.
He also alleged that in January 2023, the then SSP, Leh had presented a research paper in the annual conference of DGPs/IGPs saying that out of 65 joint patrolling points, India did not have access to 26 and these were under Chinese occupation.
Tewari said that despite the Opposition raising the matter on several occasions in the Parliament neither the Prime Minister nor the Foreign Minister uttered a single word about Chinese intrusion.
The Congress leader asked the government to tell the country as how much land of India is under Chinese control since May 2020 and why the government did not get it vacated.
