New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Monday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation, alleging that it was completely upstaged by President Trump's revelations a few minutes earlier.
Taking to his social media handle X, Ramesh said that the Prime Minister made no mention of Trump's claims, leaving several crucial matters unaddressed.
“Has India agreed to U.S. mediation in its talks with Pakistan?” Ramesh asked. “Has India consented to a ‘neutral site’ for dialogue? And are we now prepared to concede to US demands for greater market access in sectors like automobiles and agriculture?”
He further said, “The Prime Minister must convene a meeting with leaders of all political parties immediately — something he has avoided for the past twenty days.”
Calling for a shift from rhetorical statements to substantive diplomacy, Ramesh said, “The months ahead will demand both painstaking diplomacy and a collective resolve. One-liners and dialogue-baazi are poor substitutes”.
The Congress leader while supporting the Indian armed forces, affirmed, “We applaud and salute our armed forces unreservedly. They have done the country proud, and we are 100% with them at all times."
“The Prime Minister still has much to answer for,” he added.
