India, Czech Republic hold Foreign Office Consultations, discuss trade, defence

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) India and the Czech Republic held their 8th round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in New Delhi on Wednesday, during which they discussed the progress in political relations, trade and investments, defence partnership among others.
The talks were co-chaired by M. Anand Prakash, Joint Secretary (Central Europe), Ministry of External Affairs, and Katerina Sequensova, Director General, Non-European Countries, Economic and Development Cooperation Section, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, a statement said.
During the FOC, both sides undertook a comprehensive review of bilateral, regional and international issues. Discussions were focused on the progress made in political relations including exchange of high-level visits, trade and investments, cooperation in S&T, defence partnership, and people-to-people contacts including through mobility of students between the two countries. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
DG Sequensova also met Tanmaya Lal, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs. They had a comprehensive discussion on all aspects of bilateral relations, as well as regional and global issues.
India and Czech Republic enjoy close and friendly relations. The two countries decided to elevate their relations in innovative sectors to the Strategic Partnership on Innovation during the visit of Czech Prime Minister to India in January 2024.
Both sides agreed to hold the next round of Foreign Office Consultations at a mutually convenient time in Prague, it added.
