LS adjourned till 12:00 noon amid ruckus over deportation of Indian nationals from US

New Delhi, Feb 06 (UNI) Lok Sabha adjourned till 12 noon amid ruckus following Opposition MPs' demand to discuss the issue of deportation of Indian nationals, who were allegedly illegally living in the US.
Earlier, Congress leader KC Venugopal gave adjournment notice to discuss ongoing abrupt deportation of Illegal Indian immigrants by the US and called it "inhuman".
"This crisis also underscores the necessity of robust policies to prevent illegal migration and create structured legal avenues for those seeking employment abroad. There is an urgent need for intervention to dismantle human trafficking networks, provide financial and social reintegration support to deportees, and establish transparent migration frameworks to protect Indians from such predicaments in the future," notice said.
It further added that the government must act decisively to safeguard the interests of thousands affected and uphold India's diplomatic "credibility."
Other Congress' MP Manickam Tagore and Gaurav Gogoi moved the adjournment motion in the house to discuss the deportations of over 100 Indians by the US.
"The United States has begun deporting Indian nationals in an inhumane and degrading manner. Reports indicate that deported individuals are shackled and handcuffed, and transported on military aircraft, which is a clear violation of their dignity. The recent deportation of around 200 Indian nationals who were identified as illegal immigrants-has shocked the nation," the motion said.
On Wednesday, a US military aircraft carrying the first batch of 104 illegal Indian immigrants, reached Amritsar in Punjab, with the highest number of 30 each, were from Haryana and Gujarat. A total of 30 deportees were residents of Punjab.
According to data from the Pew Research Centre, approximately 7,25,000 illegal immigrants from India live in the US, making it the third-largest population of unauthorised immigrants after Mexico and El Salvador.
